On 4 July around 20 of the Society's members and friends went on a trip to the Ulster American Folk Park outside Omagh. The visit corresponed with the annual American Independence Day celebrations and accordingly there were a lot of visitors and festivities at the centre. Everyone had a great time and enjoyed the craic and entertainment not least of which was a superb picnic provided by Marie & Eileen Quinn and friends. Those of us not involved in its preparation felt thoroughly spoiled and tucked into home-made apple tart, wheaten bread and other delights. A special mention of thanks to the folk at the Park and especially Dr Philip Mowat who provided our party with free admission on account of the connection with Tullyallen Mass House which was donated to the Park in 1993. We made a special point of visiting the Mass House and we all enjoyed a brief talk from our own Brendan Holland & Fr Crowley on the building's history and its transfer to the Park.
